Dean Ivan Johnson, 74, Carson City, Nev., died May 3, 2001, in Carson City, Nev.
He was a former resident of Brookings.
He was born April 2, 1927, in Canyonville, Utah.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned two bronze stars in Korea. He was employed at the Hawthorne Naval Ammunition Depot for several years.
He married Betty L. Anderson Sept. 1, 1978, in Yerington, Nev.
Mr. Johnson loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also was a member and an active volunteer at Chetco Senior Center.
Surviving him is his wife of Brookings; son Dean Johnson of Reno, Nev.; daughter Beatriz Whitney of Reno; stepdaughters Karen Kottke of Poulsbo, Wash.; Sharon Patrick of Lakeview;
Also surviving are several brothers and sisters, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was in Hawthorne, Nev., May 12. No services will be in Brookings.
