Charlotte A. Brusewitz, 84, Brookings, died March 15, 2002, in Crescent City of natural causes.
She was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Oriska Township, N.D., to Charles and Tina Paeper. She was one of eight children.
She moved as a young adult to Wisconsin to be closer to her older sister, and it was there that she met her future husband, Al Brusewitz.
They were married in Stevenson, Wash., Jan. 7, 1947. Their adventuresome spirit took them to California, Alaska and Northern Oregon. She was employed by Meyers Department Store for 25 years.
She and her husband retired to Brookings in 1980, where he passed away two years later.
She was a lifelong avid bowler, and had remained active in the sport until the time of her death. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and playing cards, especially cribbage.
Survivors include sister, Ila Durham of Hoquiam, Wash.; nieces, Colleen Vance of Oro Valley, Ariz and her family; Katherine Kelly of Long Beach, Calif.; Glennice Baumgartner of Carlin, Nev.; nephew, James Kelly, of Long Beach.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today (March 20) at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St., Brookings.
