Cathy Lynn McClatchy
Feb. 17, 1958-June 26, 2014
Cathy Lynn McClatchy, of Brookings, died suddenly on June 26, 2014 in Crescent City. She was 56.
Cathy was born on February 17, 1958, in Hollywood, California, to Charles “Tom” and Betty Rae Binns.
The family moved to Clovis, California, when she was 16 years old, where she graduated from Clovis High School. Immediately following high school, Cathy moved to Oregon to work at a family restaurant. It was there that she learned to cook those wonderful foods that family and friends came to enjoy.
After two years, she moved back to Clovis where she became a wife, mother and restaurant owner herself. She had two sons: Scott Smith and Adam Smith.
Cathy moved to Curry County in 1996 and made many friends while cooking lunch at the senior center and then working at Floor Covering Express as an office manager. She married Walter McClatchy in Brookings in 2005. Cathy enjoyed being a volunteer at the Elks bingo on Fridays and really enjoyed playing bingo herself with husband and parents as well as playing dominoes with “the girls” on Wednesdays.
She is survived by her husband Walter; her parents Tom and Betty Binns of Brookings; a brother Charles W. Binns; sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Yolanda Smith of Silver Springs, Nevada, Adam and Keri Smith of Brookings; nieces Courtney Douglas and her husband Ryan of Truckee, California, and Tommi Binns of Clovis, California; nephew David Binns of Colorado; great-nephew Jordon Douglas.
Cathy was preceded in death by her brother Tommy Binns.
