Carroll Louise Newport, 73, Anacortes, Wash., died Sept. 28, 2001.

She was born Aug. 8, 1928, in San Diego, Calif.

She married Lyle Burton Newport in 1949. She lived in Portland, Longview, Wash., Spokane, Wash., Brookings and Anacortes for the past five years.

She served with the Christian Science Church for more than 50 years. She enjoyed traveling and backpacking with her husband and friends in the wilderness. She was a talented artist.

Survivors are her husband of Anacortes, Wash.; children, Cynthia Newport of Boston; Colleen Newport Stevens of Germantown, Tenn.; Grant Newport of Federal Way, Wash.; Glen Newport of Easton, Md.

Also surviving are grandchildren Jolon Bankey, Racheal Prince, Laura Gustaferro, Mike Stevens, Regan Newport, Tyler Newport, Lindsay Newport, Brenna Newport, Cole Newport and Morgan Newport; great-grandchildren, Freya Prince and Siobhan Prince.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Christian Science Church or to a national park. At her requests there will be no memorial service.
