Carolyn Nichols

Carolyn Nichols, 83, Corvallis, died April 24, 2001.

She was born in 1918 in Portland to Bernard and Nettie McKain.

They moved to the Oak Grove area when she was 2 years old. She attended Concord Grade School and Milwaukie High School. She attended Albany College and then beauty school in Portland, becoming a licensed beautician and barber.

She married Jack Nichols in 1938. They lived in several places, but spent 22 years in Gold Beach. They retired to Corvallis in 1974.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church. She enjoyed bridge, knitting and crafts.

Survivors are her son Tom Nichols of Crescent City; twin daughters Sharon Denney of Gold Beach, and Susan Wimmer of Cascadia.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in Corvallis May 5 at 1 p.m. at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church, 3600 N.W. Samaritan Drive.
