Carmen Dillard, 77, Brookings, died Aug. 11, 2001, in Crescent City.

She was born March 18, 1924, in Seattle.

She worked at the Navy shipyard in San Diego and the Army Air Force base in Anchorage, Alaska.

She lived with her husband, Glen, in Alaska until 1960. They moved to Washington, then to Brookings in 1972.

Mrs. Dillard was treasurer and life member of the Friends of the Chetco Library, and a member of the Pelican Bay Arts Association and the chamber of commerce visitor center. She did volunteer work for the Coos-Curry Health Fair and enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending evenings with friends, reading and painting.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. at Littys Funeral Directors, 517 Railroad St., Brookings.

A viewing will be the same day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
