Billy Norman Nye, 80, Portland, died Jan. 19, 2002, in Portland. Mr. Nye was born Aug. 2, 1921, in Independence. He served in the U.S. Navy in World World II. He married his wife, Cathrine, Aug. 10, 1945. He earned a masters degree in industrial arts and was a teacher employed by Antioch School District, retiring in 1981. Mr. Nye lived in the Brookings-Harbor area from 1981 to 2000. He enjoyed cutting wood on the beach. Survivors include his wife of Portland; daughter, Patricia Meyer of Tigard; sons, Douglas Nye of New Jersey; Wesley and Bill Nye, both of Portland; and Stanley Nye of Concord, Calif. Also surviving are six grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at Williamette National Cemetery in Portland. He will be buried with full military honors and urn placement. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Portland. |
