Bernice Jane Butler, 88, Brookings, died Nov. 29, 2000, of a heart attack in Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was born Feb. 5, 1912, in Madison, Wis. She was raised primarily in Southern California and spent a lot of time at the familys beach house.
She married Wesley Butler in 1937 in Long Beach, Calif. They moved to Arizona where they raised their family, had numerous real estate properties and retired from the motel business.
They moved back to Long Beach where they owned apartment property.
After many years of vacationing on the Southern Oregon Coast, they moved to Brookings in 1978.
Survivors are her husband; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Joyce Butler, Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter Linda Daley, Tucson, Ariz.; granddaughter Stacey Daley, Portland; sister and brother-in-law Budd and Ruth Deming, Casa Grande, Ariz.
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. at Brookings Presbyterian Church, 540 Pacific Ave.
Her ashes will be scattered at sea.
