Avagene Rutter peacefully went to heaven from her home in Harbor, Oregon, on May 13, 2012. She was 95.
Avagene was born August 15, 1916, in Three Rivers, Michigan, to Ernest and Minnie (Whitwright) Bolinger.
In 1961, she married Clifford Rutter in Reno, Nevada.
She held many jobs throughout her life including an operator with Pacific Bell and as a fruit packer with Harry & David.
Once retired, Avagene enjoyed volunteering, especially with the Chetco Community Public Library where she was named “Volunteer of the Year.” She loved reading, gardening, collecting figurines and horses. Most importantly, though, Avagene loved her family, especially her great-grandchildren, Kiera and Riley, daughters of grandson Frank Moulton.
Avagene is also survived by grandson Steven Moulton and his wife, Rene; sister-in law Margene Bolinger; daughters by marriage Sharon Dykeman and Becky Ferguson; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her sons M. Dean Moulton and John Ivan Moulton; sister Catherine Craig; brother Stanley Bolinger; and husband Clifford Rutter.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St. in Brookings. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, 2500 Upper River Road in Grants Pass, where Avagene will be laid to rest beside her husband Clifford.
