Aridatha Georgia Kelley, 98, Brookings, died May 31, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 29, 1902, in Jewel County, Kan., to Ira and Effie Alcorn.
As a child, she moved by wagon train with four other families and settled in Hood River.
She married William O. Kelley who preceded her in death in 1953.
She served as the first female police officer in Pasadena, her family said. She also worked for Norton Air Force Security Force in San Bernardino, Calif.
Survivors are son, Eugene L. Pitzer of Harbor; daughter, Barbara Lansing of Carpinteria, Calif.; brother, Warde Alcorn of Arcadia, Calif.; granddaughters, Catherine Mead of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Barbara Snow of Elk Grove, Calif.; Wendy Donohue of Janesville, Calif.; grandsons, Robert Pitzer of Tacoma, Wash.; Jeff Lansing of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
A private service was held.
