Annie Mae Stewart, 98, Brookings, died in her sleep while recovering from broken hip surgery at a local care facility.

She was born in Winston County, Miss., on Oct. 18, 1903, to M.F. and Carrie Stewart.

She graduated from French Camp Academy in 1920 and was employed as a seamstress for most of her life.

She was a lifelong member of Bethsalem Presbyterian Church of Winston County, Miss.

She traveled extensively in her later years, moving from Mississippi to Indiana and then on to California and Oregon to remain close to her great-niece, Sandra Jean (Whiteside) Dupree.

A graveside service will be conduced in Mississippi.

Local arrangements under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel.
