Annabelle Rodgers

Annabelle Rodgers

Feb. 2, 1922-May 2, 2014

Annabelle was born at home, in Douglas County, on Feb. 2, 1922, in a farmhouse built by her own father’s hands, in anticipation of Annabelle’s arrival.

Annabelle was always proud and often bragged that her daddy built a house just for her. She claimed the number 2 was always significant in her life. She lived a full 92 years, and passed away on the 2nd of May. She was the 2nd born child to parents Duane and Ruby Peck.

Her older brother, James Allen Peck preceded her in death just three weeks prior- at the age of 97.

Annabelle grew up on a remote farm near Smith River in Douglas County. The school she attended was located on the river bank and only accessible by boat. Travel to town was by mail boat.

In 1940, she married Earl Rodgers, and was married 60 years before his passing in 2000.

Together they had three children, Sharon Huff (spouse John) of Harbor, Charlotte Barton (Gary) of Charleston and Danny Rodgers (Karen) of Dayville.

In 2000 she moved to Brookings, where she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She also enjoyed her flowers, embroidering, and her pets, which included canaries, goldfish and her dog, Trixie.

She died peacefully at home, surrounded by people she loved.

Submitted by the family.
