Alexander Behary, 81, Brookings, died Aug. 26, 2000.
He was born in Coatsville, Pa., on Sept. 1, 1918 to Alexander and Mary Behary.
During World War II he served three and a half years active duty in the jungles of New Guinea.
He married Alta Baker, his wife of 55 years, in Los Angeles. They made their home in the San Fernando Valley for many years.
Mr. Behary enjoyed an early retirement in 1974 after 27 years with General Motors Assembly Division, Van Nuys, in management.
Al and Alta have made their home in Brookings for the last 10 years, sharing their time between Brookings and Cottonwood Cove, Nev.
The mouths of the Klamath and Smith rivers were favorite fishing spots since the early 1960s.
He is survived by his wife Alta Behary, Brookings; son Al Skip Behary and his wife Judy; granddaughter Amber, all of Petersburg, Alaska; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Dorothy Denes, Stuart, Fla.
Also surviving are many other family members including numerous special nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
