Former Brookings resident Adelia Mae Ellis Hassett, 85, of Sandy, died Sept. 25, 2011, in Portland.

She was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Saline, Mich., to Harvey and Lucille Robison Ellis.

She married George Raymond Hassett, May 20, 1945, at the First Baptist Church  in Brookings, after a five-month courtship.

The couple made their home in Brookings where they raised their four sons and a daughter.

Adelia and George dedicated their lives to the Lord Jesus on Jan. 1, 1957, and served Him faithfully throughout their lives.

In addition to fulfilling her duties as a wife and mother, Adelia worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Multnomah School of the Bible. In 1996, Adelia and George moved to Sandy to live near their family and to make their permanent home. Adelia was a member of Dover Community Church. She enjoyed fishing, knitting and doing puzzles. She loved cats and was a competitive board-game player.

Survivors include George, her husband of 66 years, of Sandy; daughter Nancy and  husband Denis Thiessen of Sandy; sons Ronald and wife Sharon of Albuquerque, N.M., Dan and wife Amy of Crocker, Mo., Glenn and wife Rosalie of Tillamook, and Wayne and wife Dawn of Wallowa. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 16-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; numerous nieces; nephews; grand-nieces; grand-nephews, and many friends.

A memorial service was held Oct. 2, at Dover Community Church in Sandy.
