Abraham Francis Spinas, 88, Brookings, died March 13, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 16, 1912, in Selma to Antone and Minnie (Chrisman) Spinas.
He grew up on a ranch in Selma with his parents and three brothers.
He married Juanita LaVelle Walker on Feb. 8, 1936, in Roseburg. They lived in Selma where he worked at Krauss Brothers Lumber until they moved to Roseburg in 1939.
Mr. Spinas worked for Roseburg Lumber Co. for 39 years until his retirement in 1977.
He and his wife spent a lot of years hunting, fishing and camping, which they both enjoyed. He enjoyed watching wrestling, boxing and sports on TV and working in their yard.
Survivors are his wife of 65 years of Brookings; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Darrell McCracken of Brookings; son and daughter-in-law, Jerold and Ginger Spinas of Lookingglass; granddaughters Lynn Rieke of Lookingglass and Gayle Bachini of Westpoint,Va; grandsons Dennis Spinas of Roseburg; Daniel Spinas of Sacramento; Greg Wood of Silverton.
Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his brothers Phillip, Antone and John Spinas.
Graveside services were March 19 at Roseburg Memorial Gardens in Roseburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Curry County Hospice, P.O. Box 745, Gold Beach, OR 97444.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wilsons Chapel of the Roses Funeral Home and Crematory.
