GOLD BEACH – As darkness fell Tuesday evening the Curry County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue suspended its search in the Saunders Creek drainage area near the Rogue River for three people reported as being overdue mushroom hunters. Officials were set to regroup this morning (Feb. 1) and coordinate their search efforts.
The three are husband and wife Daniel Conne, 47, and Belinda Conne, 47, and their 25-year-old son Michael Conne. They were reported as last seen on Sunday around noon at their campsite in Huntley Park on the Rogue River, and were thought to be going into the Saunders Creek area to pick mushrooms. The Connes did not return and left two dogs inside a camp trailer. Searchers combed the road network in and around the Saunders Creek drainage looking for the Connes’ vehicle, a 2004 red Jeep Cherokee, Oklahoma license plate 242AIH. The photo of Daniel and Belinda Conne supplied by the Sheriff’s Department does not show the full beard Daniel presently wears. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the Connes is asked to contact the Curry County Sheriff's Office at 541-247-3242, or 800-543-8471.
