One of four people in a stolen Jeep pulled over by police Friday is handcuffed and placed in a patrol car.
Authorities arrested two people without incident Friday morning after a Brookings Police officer identified a stolen car driving through town.
Officer Kyle Kennedy was about to stop the driver of a 1993 Jeep for not wearing a seatbelt when a radio check of the vehicle’s license place found the SUV and the plates were reported stolen in Seaside five days ago.
Kennedy, assisted by another police officer and several Curry County Sheriff’s deputies, surrounded the car in the parking lot of the South Coast Shopping Center and order the driver and three passengers out of the vehicle.
The driver, Ernest Nowe, 55, of Crescent City, was arrested and charged with vehicle theft. Passenger Rebecca Naves, 41, of Roseburg was charged with possession of meth.
