Arts, crafts, demonstrations, food and entertainment are scheduled for the Festival of the Arts today and Sunday at the Port of Brookings Harbor boardwalk.
Organizers announced that 70 artisans have filled the 77 booths available, some of them taking up two booths. In addition to the six restaurants surrounding the boardwalk, three more are setting up food booths. Nine entertainers are signed up, festival organizers said.
The show, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 19 and 20, is expected to have something for all ages, including crafts, an art parade for children and stories by Dori Frost, childrens librarian at Chetco Community Public Library, organizers said.
Childrens events are scheduled in the booths near the restrooms between the retail complex buildings.
Crafts for children are scheduled from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. both days. A parade of art is scheduled at the close of each craft session, organizers said.
Artisans signed up for the festival include furniture makers, potters, jewelers, metal sculptors, woodworkers, basket weavers, glass blowers, photographers and more.
Some booths will have ongoing demonstrations, said Jo Mochulski, event organizer.
A list of artists and booth assignments is available at the show. For festival information, call (541) 469-6070 or 469-4119.
Also on tap is a Hands of Friendship wall. The public is invited to put their handprints on a wall, organizers said.
