OLDS' TESTIMONY CHALLENGED

Reports that Curry County Commissioner Lloyd Olds was at 16391 Sunshine Cove Lane, Space 6 on county business when he drew a gun on Charles David have been challenged by the resident.

A copy of the county property report for the Sunshine Cove property given to The Pilot, shows no tax owed. A note on the report suggests, Maybe Olds was at No. 6 for some other reason.

A notarized letter from Marcella Rivera, the resident, charges that Larry Olds, the commissioners brother, and Charles David have had problems since Oct. 1, 1999.

The investigation of the incident by Oregon State Police Trooper Jed Stone and Curry County Sheriffs Detective Dave Gardiner, has been completed, reviewed by Dan Durbin from the OSP Medford office, and turned over to the Curry County District Attorney.

A decision on whether to pursue charges against the commissioner is expected within two weeks.

Commissioner Olds was out of town and unavailable for comment. He has consistently denied any wrong doing and claims the weapon was drawn in self-defense.
