GOLD BEACH A human jaw was turned into the Curry County Sheriffs Office on June 18.
The bone was found on a sandy river bar on the Rogue River near upper Mule Creek on June 16, deputies said. It was discovered by rafters from Ashland.
It was determined that the bone was human and it was sent to the Oregon State Medical Examiners Office for further examination and identification, said Detective Dave Gardiner.
Gardiner said he believes the bone belongs to an adult. The teeth are intact and they contain fillings, said Gardiner.
The sheriffs department has put out a notice with the state of Oregon and requests that anyone with knowledge of a missing person contact the Curry County Sheriffs Department at (541) 247-7011.
