HALF OF CURRY COUNTY VOTERS RETURN BALLOTS

GOLD BEACH More than half of the ballots mailed out to Curry County voters had been returned by Friday afternoon, leaving only four days for the other half of the voters to turn in their ballots.

Of the 14,730 ballots sent out, 7,499 were returned by Friday, not including those in the drop boxes in city halls, according to Curry County officials.

Registered voters who have not received their ballots should call the elections office at (541) 247-7011, extension 223.

Ballots will not be forwarded to people who have changed their addresses or post office boxes.

Elections laws require citizens to re-register to vote whenever they change their name, address, mailing address or any other detail.

People can still re-register and pick up a ballot at the Curry County Courthouse in Gold Beach.

Those re-registering can vote at the courthouse, even on election day, or take the ballot with them.

Completed ballots must be received at the elections office by 8 p.m. Tuesday. They may be mailed in, or dropped off at the elections office in the basement of the courthouse.

They may be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, or 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.

Ballots may also be dropped off at the Brookings and Port Orford city halls from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, or 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.

Elections deputies will be located in the hallways of the city halls. Ballots will not be accepted by city hall personnel.
