Curry County Commissioner David Itzen faces three challengers for his Position 1 seat on the board that is elected to lead Curry County.

The challengers in the May 20 primary election include Jim Relaford, owner of Mainbrace Technologies and board member of the Port of Brookings Harbor; Tom Huxley, retired businessman from Harbor; and Randy Dubbs Dowler, owner of Blinds and Draperies Express in Brookings. If one candidate receives “50 percent plus one vote” of those cast, they will take the Position 1 seat, joining commissioners David Brock Smith and Susan Brown.

If no candidate gets 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote-getters proceed to the elections in November.
