GOLD BEACH South Coast Addictions Program will go out of business in Curry County on June 30, but the county Human Services Department will step in to provide alcohol, drug and gambling addiction treatment.

Deb Wilson, director of Human Services, said, It is my intent to continue serving the clients and maintaining the same service that South Coast Addictions Program has been providing.

I hope that there is minimal interruption during this transition in the delivery of services, she said.

Wilson said that as of July 1, services would be provided at the current South Coast Addictions location in Brookings, at 505 Hemlock St.

In Gold Beach, services will be provided at the Curry County Human Services office in the Knox building at 93976 Oceanway Drive.

The parent company of South Coast Addictions, New Directions Northwest, informed the county on May 1 that it would be pulling out of Curry County.

Wilson said, New Directions Northwest only gave us 60 days notice. They stated that they lost $60,000 this year and $40,000 last year trying to deliver quality services to our county.

She said, We were very surprised by this announcement since we had no indication the company was struggling financially.
