GOLD BEACH Camp sites at Boice-Cope County Park will cost more beginning May 1, thanks to a new fee schedule approved Monday by the Curry County Commissioners.
Fees for day use, showers and RV parking were not raised, however.
No citizens spoke at the public hearing on the fee hikes.
The order establishing the new fees said camping fees at the park had not been revised since 1993.
Fees for overnight camping will now cost $13 per vehicle for tent sites and $16 per vehicle for RV sites. Extra vehicles will be charged $5 per site.
Day use will remain at $2 per vehicle, with annual day use passes available for $25, the order said.
Showers will still cost 25 cents for five minutes. RV parking during the off season, Oct. 1 to April 30, will be $30 a month.
Commissioner Lucie La Bont said the county is losing revenue on the showers, but County Counsel Jerry Herbage said the shower meters would have to be sent out to be modified for higher prices.
He said the overnight camping fees were changed to be competitive with state parks.
La Bont said shed heard from a citizen who said campers can find full hookups in Port Orford for the same price as the Boice-Cope sites, which dont offer hookups.
Commissioner Marlyn Schafer said the Port Orford sites dont offer a lake on the property.
