CANDIDATES VIE FOR VOTES AT FORUMS

Candidates for city, county, state and federal offices will square off in a series of League of Women Voters forums next week starting on Tuesday.

A special public forum on the proposed Brookings-Harbor School District bond measure will be hosted by the Curry Coastal Pilot at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Best Western Brookings Inn conference center.

Both school district officials and members of the citizens committee that helped prepare the $14 million property tax measure will be available to explain the measure and answer questions about it.

The League of Women Voters Brookings forum will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Best Western Brookings Inn conference room on U.S. Highway 101.

Due to the large number of candidates running for county and city positions, the Brookings forum will not include state candidates.

Brookings residents are urged to also attend the Gold Beach forum on Wednesday, which include state candidates. The Gold Beach forum will be held at 7 p.m. in the Gold Beach High School multi-purpose room.

All the candidates running for Curry County commissioner positions No. 2 and No. 3 will be attending the Gold Beach forum.

The final forum will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Port Orford City Hall at 7 p.m. and will include all the county commissioner candidates.

City council candidates for Port Orford are:

Candidates will each give an opening statement, followed by written, rather than oral, questions.
