A Brookings man fleeing a traffic crash was seriously injured after when he climbed a power pole and received an electrical shock.
James F. Anderson, 53, was involved in a single vehicle crash at 1:24 a.m. near the intersection of Floral Hill Drive and Highway 101 in Harbor. After the crash, Anderson fled the scene to a nearby trailer park where he climbed a power pole and was electrocuted, the shock causing him to fall to the ground and inflicting serious injuries.
Oregon State Police along with a Curry County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene and restrained Anderson. An air ambulance transported Anderson to Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center in Portland to receive treatment.
An initial investigation by police shows that drugs, including methamphetamine, contributed to the incident and charges are pending.
