GOLD BEACH A $10,000 grant to pay for upgrades to the Curry Coast Airpark at Brookings was awarded to the commissioners office from the Aeronautics Division of the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The grant was awarded through the Financial Aid to Municipalities Program. County Commissioner Lloyd Olds has been working with the division to improve the airport.
Olds said the aircraft parking apron has been seal-coated and striped. The area around the terminal building has been blacktopped.
The auto parking lot was blacktopped and striped. New entrance roads were built and blacktopped into the hangar areas. A blacktopped road was built to the south hangar area.
Olds said the entire project cost $27,803. The grant paid $10,000 of that, and the countys economic development fund paid the rest.
The infrastructure of Curry Coast Airpark has been increased beyond its prior capacity, said Olds.
He said the commissioners will continue to work to make the airport the best it can be.
