The Brookings-Harbor High athletic department is scrambling in search of candidates to fill two coaching vacancies on its staff one of them is to begin in August.
Brookings-Harbor High Athletic Director Pete Payne announced Thursday that the search is on for a varsity girls head soccer coach and a boys basketball assistant coach.
The openings are replacements for girls soccer coach Paul Schoenborn and assistant basketball coach Jason Fulton.
Schoenborn accepted a job as a principal for the Oakridge School District.
He always wanted to be a principal and this is his chance to do so, Payne said.
Fulton, on the other hand, is leaving his post for family reasons.
He has little ones at home and he wants to spend more time with them, Payne said.
Schoenborn and Fulton were not available for comment at press time.
Payne said the candidates for the open positions must have sound knowledge of the game and game strategies, demonstrate sound practice organization, demonstrate positive public relations with parents and the media, demonstrate involvement and concern for the total athletic program and adhere to Brookings-Harbor School District and Oregon School Activities Association rules.
Payne hopes to have the two positions filled by the July 18 closing date, and salary is on a per-contract basis.
Interested applicants can pick up an application at the district office at 564 Fern St.
They should be returned to the same place, marked Attention Pete Payne.
