AUTHORITIES IDENTIFY HUMAN REMAINS

GOLD BEACH The remains of a human body found Dec. 10 on the beach at Hunter Cove near Cape Sebastian have been identified as Allen Frank Simmons, 71, of Hunter Creek.

The remains were sent to the Oregon State Police Crime Lab in Central Point. Fingerprints taken from the remains positively identified the man as Simmons.

The remains were discovered on rocks about 25 feet from the water line, troopers said.

John Mills, an off-duty Coast Guard officer, discovered them as he was walking with his family on the beach.

It doesnt look as though foul play was involved in Simmons death, officials said.

Simmons lived in the tree line south of Hunter Creek and had a general delivery address in Gold Beach. He was born in Brockton, Mass., Sept. 11, 1929.

The Oregon State Police are attempting to locate Simmons next of kin.

Any information the public may have should be directed to the Oregon State Police at (541) 247-6641.
