Artisans were busy setting up displays and canopies Friday afternoon in anticipation of this weekend's Festival of the Arts at the Port of Brookings Harbor.
This is the eighth year for the event, which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today (Aug. 18) and Sunday. Entertainment starts at noon today and continues at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Brookings-Harbor High School dance team will perform at noon Saturday, followed by the Euchre Creek String Band at 1 p.m. and the Renegade Line Dancers at 3:30 p.m.
On Sunday, guitar player Roger Vines will perform at 1 p.m., followed by vocalist Skyler Shuford at 2 p.m. and the Renegade Line Dancers at 3:30 p.m.
All the booths at the event feature original arts and crafts. No manufactured or assembled items are permitted, festival organizers said. All items will be for sale, including sea grass baskets made by local artisan Lynn Benton.
This is the third year Ive done this festival, Benton said Friday. Its always a lot of fun.
This years festival will feature painting in all media, pottery, ceramics, jewelry, metal sculpture, stained glass, bead and leather work, woodwork, candles, fabric art and furniture.
A free childrens craft activity table will be provided at the event. Admission and parking are free.
