Health insurance for commercial fishing families will be the topic of informational sessions at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Brookings. The sessions will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Brookings center at 420 Alder St. The insurance, from Regence Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Oregon, will be offered to Northwest members of the Womens Coalition for Pacific Fisheries. Those earning the majority of their taxable income as commercial fishermen or in fishing support industries are eligible. That includes boat owners, skippers, crew, fishery observers, charter boat operators and crew, and workers in fish processing plants, gear stores, net repair services and engine repair or fuel services. |
