Winners in the annual Festival of Lights Christmas lighting contest were announced just before Christmas in four categories.
Seven winners were selected for their creativity in displaying lights around homes, fences and windows.
Pat and Krystal Smith at 343 Spruce Drive won first place in the residential division, although their neighbor, who wasnt an entry, had an equally impressive display.
The home was not only decked out in lights, but had a Christmas tree, a snowman, reindeer pulling Santa in his sleigh and a manger scene, covering nearly every angle of Christmas.
Coming in second in the residential division was Heston Collis, who chose a patriotic theme that included an American flag marking the end of Short Way.
Collis, a self-proclaimed light freak, said he started decorating two weeks before Thanksgiving.
American flags seemed to impress the judges because Redwood Theater, with its giant flag, took first place in the commercial building division. It was, however, the only entry.
Competition in the commercial window division was tougher, but That Special Touch at 1039 Chetco Ave., came out ahead followed by Premier Properties at 1025 Chetco Ave.
It was difficult to tell in the night which boat was the winner in the marine division, however, the judges chose Dan and Bethany Thompsons sailboat for first place and Mike Blanks boat for second.
Thompsons boat may be seen from the boardwalk. Blanks boat is moored in the commercial basin on the side closest to Beachfront RV Park.
A complete list of entries are on Page 3B of the Dec. 26 edition.
