This winter’s concert theme is “Mix Tape” and refers to the orchestra’s exciting and eclectic program of beautiful music ranging from classic to contemporary.
The expression “mix tape” or “mixtape” means a compilation of favorite pieces of music, typically by different artists of diverse genres.
The program includes highlights from modern composer John William’s many famous movie soundtracks to Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov’s classic Procession of the Nobles and J. S. Bach’s Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme. Works by Emmanuel Chabrier, Hector Berlioz, William Boyce, Gabriel Faure, and Franz Gruber will also be performed.
John Webster, the new director of the Curry-Del Norte Orchestra, said he enjoyed the creative challenge of selecting this season’s pieces.
