Topping the Azalea Festival events Saturday was the introduction of
dignitaries and the presentation of awards during the Azalea Park
Program at the Stage Under the Stars.
zalea Festival princesses Molly Vance, Haley Fleshman, Jasmine Spurgeon and Molly Moncrief, and Queen Kayla Hamm were introduced during Azalea Park Program.
Les Cohen, Brookings-Harbor Chamber of Commerce executive director, opened the event by introducing the dignitaries on the stage followed by announcing the princesses as they were escorted by either their father or a family friend onto the platform.
Cohen then introduced festival Grand Marshals Gerry Livingston and Charles Kocher.
This was the second time in festival history that junior grand marshal was chosen, Cohen said. This title was bestowed upon the Brookings-Harbor basketball team, which was the state champion. He added that the school’s golf team also was state champion, so he declared the team the unofficial junior grand marshal.
KURY Radio personality Steve Braun introduced Pioneer Citizen Gene Reiling.
The program ended with the presentation of parade awards.
