|PLENTY TO DO ON THE BEACH|

When it seems there is nothing going on in the community while thousands of tourists were awaiting last night's fireworks display, no one appeared to be bored.
Sporthaven Beach was filled with people Wednesday as was Beachfront RV Park. People traditionally begin crowding the beach early on the Fourth of July in order to have a surfside view of the pyrotechnics show.
Activities at the beach have included boogie boarding and other forms of water play, riding personal watercrafts, boating, fishing off the jetty and the handicap pier, sunbathing, walking and building sand castles.
Not only is Sporthaven Beach a mecca of activity, people camping at Harris Beach State Park also find recreational opportunities on the coast.
Not everyone was into Fourth of July activities on the ocean. A few people wanted to get away from it all and played at Loeb State Park or at Forest Service river bars upstream from the park.
