Golden Bough will make its annual trek to Brookings to perform during an American Music Festival concert at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Azalea Park bandshell. Golden Bough has performed worldwide with their renditions of Celtic music. This trio of modern -day minstrels will take the audience on a musical journey from the old world to the new. The trio performs on an array of acoustic instruments: Celtic harp, guitar, penny-whistle, violin, mandolin, accordion, and bodhran (the Celtic hand drum).

The Rotary Club of Brookings-Harbor will operate the Snack Shack during the concert. People are welcome to bring their own lunch and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Concerts remaining for the 2012 season are: •Aug. 26 – Bar Misfits Klezmer Band, a Rogue Valley group performing Eastern European, gypsy, Jewish and Middle Eastern music. •Sept. 9 – Tempest, a Celtic Rock group from San Francisco. The American Music Festival is a nonprofit organization under the umbrella of the Brookings Area Council for the Arts, operated by a volunteer board.
