Chloe Elizabeth Haskins was the first baby born in 2013 — on Jan. 3 — at Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach to Derek and Tiffany Haskins of Brookings.
The Haskins arrived at Curry General Hospital at 9 a.m. Jan. 2. Baby Chloe was born at 10:07 a.m. Jan. 3. After the delivery, when the parents were comfortably settled in a private room, they were given “A Special Basket, for a Special Baby.” The attached card read “Babies are Treasures of the Heart — the first baby of 2013, Best wishes.” It was signed by the Curry General Hospital Auxiliary.
Tiffany Haskins described the basket as “ beautiful and very thoughtful.” It contained homemade items including beanies, booties, receiving blankets, powder, lotions, and many stuffed animals.
Chloe weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 20 inches long at birth.
She joins brother James Renteria, 9, and sisters Tabitha Renteria, 12, and Carolina Jimenez, 3.
