Del Norte County Fair

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. – The 130th annual Del Norte County Fair has been the talk of the town on the streets of Brookings and on Internet social sites.

The fair, which opened Thursday and has been drawing crowd each day, continues from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today (Aug. 7) and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds on Highway 101 at Cooper Avenue.

The theme for this year’s fair is “It’s a Party on the Beach.” The event will features rides by Paul Maurer Shows, which also furnished rides at last weekends Curry County Fair, as well as exhibits, food booths and entertainment. 

Admission is $7 for general, $3 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. On Sunday, the fair is offering a special pass costing $14 for up to two adults and three children younger than 18.

Saturday, Aug. 7

Military Day

10 a.m., Junior Rodeo, Grandstands.

10 a.m., Fair and Exhibit Buildings Open.

11 a.m., Dylan’s Balloon-bending Walk-Around.

Noon, Carnival opens.

Noon, Tolowa Dancers, Onion Stage.

1 p.m., Tolowa Northern Pow Wow Drummers, Onion Stage.

2 p.m., Scott Perry and Sweet Town Little, Onion Stage.                                           

3 p.m., Renegade Dancer’s Performance Team, Onion Stage.   

4 p.m., C.C.P.R.A. Rodeo, North Valley Bank Arena Grandstands.

4:30 p.m., Scotty and Trink, Pond Stage.

6 p.m., Scotty and Trink, Pond Stage.

7-11 p.m., C.F.C.U. Rodeo Dance, Road Masters Band, C.F.C.U. Dance Hall,  Sutter Coast Hospital Event Center.

8 p.m., S&B Entertainment, Karaoke, Onion Stage

9 p.m., Livestock barns close.

10 p.m., Buildings close.


Sunday, Aug. 8

Family Day

8:30 a.m., Large Animal Round Robin.

10 a.m., Fair and Exhibit Buildings open.

11 a.m., Dylan’s Balloon-ending Walk-Around.

11 a.m., Sand Castle Making Contest, Onion Stage.

Noon, Carnival opens.

Noon, Diaper Derby, Onion Stage.

1 p.m., 4-H, FFA & Grange Livestock  Auction, Livestock Barn.

1:30 p.m., Crescent Ace/Radio Shack Texting Contest, Onion Stage.

2 p.m., Demolition Derby/Tuff Trucks, North Valley Bank Arena, Grandstands.

4 p.m., Del Norte’s Got Talent Contest, Onion Stage.

5 p.m., Livestock barn closes to the public.

5 p.m., buildings close.
