|Choir concerts set May 6, 7|

CRESCENT CITY — Songs from the musical “West Side Story,” traditional spirituals, barbershop, jazz and folk pieces will be performed during a Pacific Music Guild concert.
The guild’s North Coast Chorale and Crescent City Children’s Choir will perform the songs during their spring concerts at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, May 6 and 7, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 319 E St., Crescent City.
The chorale is under the direction of Christie Lynn Rust and the children’s choir is under the baton of Greg Goode. The concerts will showcase a wide variety of musical styles including a Broadway musical, “Sicut Cervus” by Palestrina; “For All We Know,” a vocal jazz piece; “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” a traditional spiritual; “San Francisco Bay Blues” a women’s barbershop piece; “Mari’s Wedding,” a Scottish folk song; “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre; “Coney Island Baby/We All Fall,” a men’s barbershop piece; and “Zombie Jamboree,” a Calypso multicultural piece.
Tickets are $5 for general admission and free for children 5 and younger. Tickets are available at Del Norte Office Supply and at the door. Refreshments will be served.
