Students wearing hunting camouflage, left, were outnumbered by those in military garb. The Pilot/Arwyn Rice The Bruins have spirit, yes they do!
The Brookings-Harbor High School Bruins kicked-off Spirit Week with
Camo Day, where military-style camouflage wearers outnumbered those
sporting hunting-type camouflage.
However, the hunter camp had the last laugh when
woodland-pattern-wearing freshman Tyler Marrington beat out military
clad senior Meredith Horel in the final round of the lunchtime game of
musical chairs.
Tuesday’s Preloween Day brought out unexpected costumes such as a Santa Claus, as well as the more traditional pirates, fairy tale characters and clowns.
The lunchtime toss game proved more challenging than expected. The golf balls, selected in place of the traditional bean bags, were difficult to get in the holes of the game board, bouncing back into the crowd.
Only two students managed to score, with junior Alyssa Yeager earning 20 points to win the day’s honors for the junior class.
Spirit Week will continue through Friday, culminating with the Homecoming Game at 7 p.m. Friday, and the Homecoming Dance 8 p.m. Saturday.
