Vocal students present recital

The community is invited to an evening of music as Cherita Wilson presents a recital for her vocal students.

The program begins at 7 p.m. today (March 23) in the Harbor Performing Arts Center, 97900 Shopping Center Ave. The recital is free, but donations will be accepted to offset the cost of a future production.

Students will sing a variety of works including pop, jazz, and classical musical theater pieces.

“There are many students in a wide variety of ages from 6 to 28 and they have all worked very hard,” Wilson said. “I tried to choose music that fit the voices of each individual student

“I have been working with some of my students for several months and some, as little as three weeks. The program will include a few duets and even some acting!  It promises to be an entertaining evening.”

Students performing include Shaina Lord, Katie McPherson, Dylan Panter, Dilan Cuthbertson, Kristin Mitchell, Shawntisha Bailey, Ca’Mare’a Freeman and Layla Gagnon.

Donations collected at this event will benefit Wilson’s production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” which will take the stage in November.

The evening will have a 15 minute intermission with lots of goodies and drinks for purchase.  There will also be an opportunity to win prizes with drawings throughout the second half of the recital.
