Brookings Harbor Community Theater announces that tickets are available for the musical production of, “Lady Pirates of the Caribbean,” set to open in the Harbor Performing Arts Center on Thursday, July 21.
The cast and crew of adult performers are currently singing, dancing and rehearsing their sword fight in preparation for the opening of the show. “Lady Pirates” is rated G and is suitable for all ages. Directors Dori Blodgett and Andy Drago are assisted by Stage Manager Lynette McPherson, lights and sound technicians Sennett Vest and Hunter Hahn, properties manager Jaia Hudson, make-up artist Andi and stage crew Annie Graves.
As the story unfolds, a chest of gold doubloons sent by the queen to care for orphaned children has been stolen. To save the orphans from starvation, Sister Benedict seeks the help of Esmeralda, the captain of the pirates known as the Lawless Ladies. Once an orphan herself, Esmeralda, played by Crissy Cooper, promises to recover the gold. The Lawless Ladies go to Parrot Isle disguised as a shipwrecked theatrical troupe. Esmeralda suspects that Gov. Don Juan Futon, played by David Shull, and his niece Lucretia, played by Katie Graves, are impostors, but she has no proof. Wary Lucretia proclaims that the theatrical troupe are spies. Esmeralda and her Lawless Ladies are condemned to walk the plank, but Esmeralda tricks Lucretia and the fake governor and exposes their evil doing. A classic sword fight is the climax to this swashbuckling pirate play.
Along with the six Lawless Ladies (Hazel Campbell, Dorothy Shull, Kira Hudson, Katherine McPherson, Shelby George, and Colleen Gibson), the stage will hold the ornery crew of the Slither (Brittney Lawson, Courtney Dornback, and Satara Farley) and another crew of fierce pirates led by Yoho Hokum (Gage Cooper, Caitlin Banta, Chris Sudeta, Steven Nagel, Jordan Grenert, and Nadine Pizzi).
Additional characters include the general, played by Terry Farley, One-eyed Pete played by Kevin Sumner, One-eyed Paul played by Tyler Freeman and Figure played by Chase Hahn. Crew members for the Pink Pelican are Savannah Rexford, Megan Hulen, Eden Craig, Teri McGregor, Cassidy Ward and Glenna Craig.
“Lady Pirates of the Caribbean” promises lively songs, led by Music Director Katie Graves, intricate dance as choreographed by Crissy Cooper, and plenty of action. The songs include ‘Lady of the Sweet Trade,” “The Pink Pelican,” “Señoritas from Madrid,” “A Full House in the Dungeon,” “Ghost Ship in the Night” and more.
“Lady Pirates of the Caribbean” will run July 21-24 and 28-31. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
