The nationally-touring acoustic duo Bill and Kate Isles will perform for the Stagelights Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Harbor Performing Arts Center, 97900 Shopping Center Ave.
Using a variety of musical styles and instruments, Bill and Kate sing songs about small town life, love and zany comedy.
The Minnesota-based couple’s style is reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel, Carly Simon, James Taylor, John Denver, Jimmy Buffet and Suzanne Vega, according to reviews
The couple has toured nationally, full-time, since early 2007, performing about 150 shows per year. Their late-2011 album, “Still Beneath the Stars and Moon” includes 10 original songs and showcases their respective songwriting with several of Kate’s songs as well as a few they’ve co-written.
“The response has been very positive with many comments such as ‘We’re wearing out your CD, we listen to it all the time!’” Kate said.
The album also received the Readers’ Choice award for Best Album of 2011 by the Duluth’s Reader Weekly.
Bill is a survivor of sudden cardiac arrest, but instead of letting the 1993 experience end his life, it jump-started his career, and he vowed to write and share his music with the world.
He married Kate in 2004 and she became his co-writer and musical collaborator.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $5 for children 12 and younger. Tickets are available at the Curry Coastal Pilot, 507 Chetco Ave., in Brookings, and at the door at 7 p.m. the night of the show.
Snack bar proceeds will benefit the Brookings Harbor Community Theater.
