The Outreach Gospel Mission will sponsor a holiday movie matinee of “The Hobbit” for youth ages 8 to 16 at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Redwood Theater, 621 Chetco Ave., Brookings.
In addition to the movie showing, coats, gloves, toys and treats by “Santa” will be distributed. There will be a drawing for three turkeys as well.
“As the winter sets in after Christmas, I saw a need for children and teens to have a form of entertainment that would not be costly to them or their families,” OGM executive director Michael Olsen wrote in a press release. “Over the past two years, 250 children and some parents have attended this great event.
“During 2012, many of these families have supported Outreach Gospel Mission one way or another. This is our way to thank them.”
The tradition was started in December 2010. Past movies have been “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, and “We Bought a Zoo.”
