Fourth of July Events

Wednesday, July 2

Tall Trees Rendezvous, sponsored by the Jed Smith Mountain Men, will be at the Del Norte Rod and Gun Club Grounds, 1000 Rowdy Creek Road, Smith River. Events are all day and continue through Saturday, July 5.

Thursday, July 3

A Sand Castle Contest will be from noon to 3 p.m. on the beach at the mouth of Elk Creek in Crescent City.

The Coast Redwoods Art Association stages its annual Art and Craft Show from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Crescent City Cultural Center, 1001 Front St. The show continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 4, 

Friday, July 4

Chetco Community Public Library hosts its annual Children’s Parade at 10 a.m. in the library parking lot, 405 Alder St., Brookings. Participation in the parade is for children 12 and younger. All ages are welcome to watch. For more information, call 541-469-7738.

Bluegrass on the Boardwalk begins at 1 p.m. in the grass in front of the boardwalk extension at the Port of Brookings Harbor. For information, call 541-469-2218.

The 17th annual Chili cookoff will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on the Port of Brookings Harbor boardwalk in front of Slugs ’N’ Stones ’N’ Ice Cream Cones.

Vendors open at 8 a.m. at Beachfront Park along Front Street in Crescent City.

Crescent City’s annual Fourth of July Parade begins at 10 a.m. at the north end of H Street. The parade progresses down H Street, Third Street, K Street and Front Street,. 

The Firefighter’s Waterball Competition starts at 1 p.m. on Front Street in Crescent City.

The Rotary Pancake Breakfast will be from 7 to 10 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, 421 11th St., Port Orford. Proceeds benefit Rotary scholarships and community projects

A Sandcastle Contest begins at 7 a.m. at Dock Beach in Port Orford.

The annual Port Orford Flower Show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Port Orford Library Freedom of Speech Room, 1421 Oregon St.

A Community Appreciation event, including food, activities and live music will begin at 10 a.m. in the Triangle Square Parking lot on Sixth Street in Port Orford.

A Fourth of July Jubilee Parade will take place on Highway 101 in downtown Port Orford at 11 a.m.

Redfish Outdoor Bar-B-Que, with music, will be from noon to 4 p.m. at the Battle Rock  State Wayside at Highway 101 and Jefferson Street in Port Orford. Fish tacos, bratwurst and sodas will be served.

Cape Blanco Heritage Society will hold the 13th Annual Jerry Can Races at Port Orford Lifeboat Station Museum at the end of Coast Guard Hill Road at 3 p.m.

Dingy Races will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at Battle Rock Beach in Port Orford.

Fireworks displays will take place at dusk on South Beach in Crescent City, Sporthaven Beach in Harbor, The Port of Gold Beach in Gold Beach and Battle Rock State Wayside in Port Orford.

Saturday, July 5

Salt Water Open Beach Golf will take place from Battle Rock Beach to Hubbard Creek in Port Orford beginning at 8 a.m. 

A Hamburger Cookoff will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Triangle Square Parking lot on Sixth Street in Port Orford.

A Skate Bowl demonstration will take place at 3 p.m. in Buffington Park in Port Orford.

A Battle of the Bands competition will begin at 3 p.m. in Buffington Park in Port Orford. 

 

A Treasure Hunt starts at 9:30 p.m. in the Triangle Square parking lot on Sixth Street in Port Orford.
