This year’s Art Studio Tour, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, includes five studios with 12 artists participating.
This is the sixth year for this event and will have the theme “Surf and Turf.” The tour is an opportunity to mingle with the many artists in the area.
The purpose of the tour is to allow the artists to exhibit work that is not always seen in galleries and to connect the public with the art opportunities at the Manley Art Center and Gallery.
Event organizers say it offers the public a glimpse into the artists’ world and is an opportunity to talk one-on-one with the artists and learn how they create their art. Many will be demonstrating their work.
Artists participating this year are Audi Stanton, Eva Marie Klaas, Dale Wells, Verna Pooler, Maryjane Carlson, Len and Violet Burton, Lynn Benton, Diana Stein, Elwyn Bowker and Jean Johnston. In addition to jewelry, Jean will be showcasing the work of her late husband, Oscar Johnston.
The tour is a benefit for Pelican Bay Arts Association. It is in part sponsored by Lucky 7 Casino, which is offering a night in its new hotel and dinner certificate as a prize. Individual Tour Passes can be purchased for $10 each at Manley Art Center and Gallery and Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies. A booklet lists the artists and includes a map of the locations.
The Tour Pass includes admission to the Black Tie and Tennis Shoe Reception and Auction Friday night, Sept. 20 and the Saturday Art Studio Tour.
The Friday event includes wine, finger-food, and a silent and live auction. The participating artists are creating items for the auction. It will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings. The live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 541-469-1807.
