The American Red Cross will hold blood donation drives on the South Coast Monday through Wednesday, Feb. 24-26. Collection sites will be noon to 6 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 820 Old County Rd., Brookings; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pacific High School gym, 45525 Highway 101, Sixes; and noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Docia Sweet Hall on the Curry County Fairgrounds, 29392 Ellensburg AVe., Gold Beach. Miracle Boat presentationThe “Miracle Boat” that was swept from Japan in the March 2011 tsunami and washed ashore in Del Norte County last year will be the subject of a presentation at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Crescent Fire Protection District Office, 255 W. Washington Blvd. Crescent City.
Community Baby Shower
The 8th annual Community Baby Shower, sponsored by Soroptimist International of Brookings, takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St., Brookings.
Friends of Music and Stagelights combine forces to present Trio Voronezh, with a diverse repertoire of music, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Lucky 7 Casino, Smith River.
Mildred Hill Concerts
The 2014 Mildred Hill Concerts start with folk music from the Kevin Carr Duo at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Zion Church, Port Orford. Carr also will make a presentation about bagpipes at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Port Orford Library.

Whale Watching Week
Get help spotting spouts of the migrating California grey whales at many coastal headlands from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, through Saturday, March 29. Look for “Whale Watching Spoken Here” signs at Harris Beach State Park in Brookings, Cape Ferrelo State Park north of Brookings, Brother Jonathan Point in Crescent City, Battle Rock State Wayside in Port Orford, and Face Rock Scenic Viewpoint in Bandon.
