The 75th annual Azalea Festival is a community-wide, weekend event from Friday, May 23, to Monday, May 26. A variety of events and activities are scheduled every day, with a parade and a majority of festival ceremonies happening Saturday. A memorial service honoring our veterans is scheduled on Monday.

Shuttle service

A free shuttle bus will be available to transport guests around the community on Saturday and Sunday. The bus will run hourly.

Saturday stops, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: the Brookings-Harbor Chamber of Commerce Office at the Port of Brookings Harbor; former Chetco Pharmacy building on Chetco Avenue; Azalea Park; and Sea View Senior Living facility.

Sunday stops, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: the Chamber office; former Chetco Pharmacy building; and Sea View Senior Living.

THURSDAY, MAY 22

•10 a.m.-4 p.m.: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE. Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder Street.

FRIDAY, MAY 23

•10 a.m.-4 p.m.: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE. Chetco Community Library, 405 Alder St.

•9 a.m.-5 p.m.: FLOWER SHOW AND PLANT SALE. Brookings Harbor Garden Club. Quality, locally-grown plants. Chetco Grange Hall, corner of Highway 101 and Zimmerman Lane, Harbor.

•1 p.m.: HONORARY VETERAN CEREMONY. Medal presentation to June Casanova, Macklyn Place, 755 Elk Dr.

•5:30-7 p.m.: AZALEA FESTIVAL KICK-OFF MIXER. Meet the pioneer citizens, Azalea Court and festival dignitaries. Refreshments held at the VFW Post 966 Hall at the corner of Pacific Ave. and Pioneer Road.

•4-9 p.m.: PARTY AT THE PORT. Local talent, beer garden, artisan market, vendors. At the boardwalk, Port of Brookings Harbor.

•6-7:30 p.m.: VIETNAM VETERANS ROLL CALL. Vietnam Veterans of America 757. Roll call of 672 Oregonians killed in the Vietnam War. In front of Brookings City Hall at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

•7:30 p.m.: BROOKINGS HARBOR COMMUNITY THEATER presents Cinderella’s Glass Slipper at the  Harbor Performing Arts Center, 97900 Shopping Center Ave., Harbor. $10 adults/$7 seniors and students. For information and reservations call 541-469-4700.

SATURDAY, MAY 24

•8-11 a.m.: KID’S FISHING POND. Oregon South Coast Fishermen. Kids 12 and younger free. Ray’s Food Place parking lot. Fifth Street and Chetco Avenue.

•10 a.m.: AZALEA FESTIVAL PARADE. Parade route: From Easy Street south on Chetco Avenue, east on Oak Street to Azalea Park.

•10 a.m.-7 p.m.: STREET FAIR. Kids’ carnival, inflatables, vendors, family entertainment. Chetco Avenue and Fifth  Street.

•10 a.m.-5 p.m.: DOWNTOWN SIDEWALK SALES throughout Brookings’ business community along Chetco Avenue. Presented by the Brookings Merchants Association.

•10 a.m.-4 p.m.: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE. Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St.

•10 a.m.-5 p.m.: AZALEA QUILT SHOW. Azalea Quilters Guild. Kalmiopsis Elementary School gymnasium. 650 Easy St.

•11 a.m.-7 p.m.: AZALEA FESTIVAL ART SHOW. Sponsored by Pelican Bay Arts Association. Vote for People’s Choice Award. Display of adult and children’s art work, demonstrations, raffle, door prizes and silent auction. Azalea Middle School gym, Pacific Ave. 

•11 a.m.-4 p.m.: CURRY COUNTY CRUISERS SHOW AND SHINE CAR SHOW. At the Port of Brookings Harbor.

•11 a.m.-9 p.m.: PARTY AT THE PORT. Local talent, beer garden, vendors, dunk tank, cardboard boat races, helicopter rides. At the boardwalk, Port of Brookings Harbor.

•10 a.m.-4 p.m.: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE. Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St.

•10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.: ST. ELIZABETH’S GUILD PIE SALE. At St. Timothy’s Church, lower level, 401 Fir St.

•Noon-5 p.m.: FLOWER SHOW AND PLANT SALE. Brookings-Harbor Garden Club. Chetco Grange Hall, corner of Highway 101 and Zimmerman Lane, Harbor.

•Noon-5 p.m.: CHETCO VALLEY HISTORICAL MUSEUM OPEN. At 15461 Museum Rd., Harbor.

•1-3 p.m.: AZALEA PARK PROGRAM. Presentation of Azalea Court, grand marshal, presentation of pioneer citizens, announcement of veteran of honor and special guests, and parade awards. At the Azalea Park band shell with live music, shrimp feed, Wall of Honor, veteran speakers at the Capella by the Sea, Brookings.

•8 a.m.-1 p.m.: ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST. All-you-can-eat breakfast. $7 donation, 5 and younger eat free. Masonic Lodge, 416 Azalea Park Dr.

•8 a.m.-4 p.m.: CURRY COUNTY CRUISERS AZALEA FESTIVAL CAR SHOW. Port of Brookings Harbor.

•10 a.m.-5 p.m.: AIRPORT DAY.  Aircraft display, food and music. $25 plane rides. Brookings Airport, 17330 Parview Dr.

•10 a.m.-7 p.m.: STREET FAIR.  Kids’ carnival, inflatables, vendors, family entertainment. Chetco Avenue and Fifth  St.

Slug rental fee. Proceeds benefit the South Coast Humane Society if you rent a slug. More information: 541-469-SLUG.

•Noon-4 p.m.: ANNUAL DEEP PIT BBQ. Brookings Elks Lodge, upper level, 800 Elk Dr. Adults pre-sale $10 or $12 at door; children 11 years and younger pre-sale $6 or $8 at the door. Pre-sale tickets through Friday, May 23.

•1-5 p.m.: STOUT MOUNTAIN PARK: Featuring the Memorial Day Stout Mountain Railway Garden. View the Armed Forces Trains and Thomas the Train, 437 Redwood St.
