Wednesday, Sept. 7

•Soroptimist International of Brookings meets at 6 p.m. at Sebastian’s Seafood Grill, 16011 Boat Basin Road, Harbor.

•The second annual Lower Rogue River Salmon Derby will take place daily through Saturday, Sept. 10, in Gold Beach. The event benefits the Indian Creek Fish Hatchery. Derby tickets are available at Rogue Outdoor Store, Lex’s Landing, Jot’s Resort and the Gold Beach Visitor Center.

•Kids Club meets at Living Waters Foursquare Church, 1136 Fifield St., at 7 p.m. Children 3 years old through sixth grade are invited.

•Kalmiopsis Audubon Society will have a birding field trip to Lake Earl. Meet at 7:30 a.m. at Coastal Cardiology, 412 Alder St., Brookings, to car pool. No birding experience is required. •Civil Air Patrol for Seniors meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Civil Air Patrol Building at the Brookings Airport, located at the end of Parkview Drive. •An AARP Driver Safety Course is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. and continues Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. to noon at Chetco Activity Center. •Oasis Shelter Home provides a haven for women and their children to be free of domestic violence, sexual abuse and resulting homelessness. •The Pregnancy Care Center – also known as P.C.C. Connections – of Brookings, located at 344 Pacific Ave., offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, education on all pregnancy options, parenting classes, baby and maternity items and more. •CC’s Cancer Resource Center offers free counseling and resource options daily to women addressing cancer issues. The resource center is inside CC’s Upscale Resale Clothing Store in the Brookings-Harbor Shopping Center in Harbor. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
