•Smith River Rancheria hosts Dee-ní Day – an annual celebration of California Native American Day – from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Howonquet Hall Community Center. The free event includes cultural demonstrations and activities, vendors and food.
•The Confederated Tribes of the Lower Rogue – Tututni and Chetco people – is sponsoring the 18th annual Gathering of the People at Big Bend, about five miles upstream from Agness, just past Foster Bar. The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a salmon dinner served at 5. The event will continue Sunday, Sept. 18, with a pancake breakfast beginning at 10 a.m. and canoe races in the afternoon.
